Mathematics is where students develop skills to analyse and identify patterns and relationships, and extend their critical and logical thinking skills. It provides a framework for thinking and a means of symbolic communication.
At Trafalgar High School the mathematics course is designed to:
- engage students in a range of real life mathematical tasks that relate to real life situations
- stimulate students via the use of a series of different technologies including CAS calculators, netbooks and ipods with mathematical apps
- challenge by providing a variety of levels of problem solving and modeling in familiar and unfamiliar situations
- create numerate individuals who are able to use mathematics proficiently in all areas of their future
